Historian Lucy Worsley makes a special guest appearance to tell you about the life of Jane Austen on a tour of the places that inspired the celebrated author
The beautiful city of Bath, with its honey-coloured houses and
grand Georgian architecture, was once the home of Jane Austen and
provided inspiration for her novels Persuasion and Northanger
Abbey.
Spend three days exploring this elegant city on a guided group
tour in June 2023, where you'll hear from Jane Austen expert Jane
Tapley as you venture around Bath, imagining what it was like in
Jane Austen's times. From the Assembly Rooms, where Bath's
illustrious residents held social occasions, to the splendid
theatre built in Georgian times, you'll get a sense of the
locations that inspired the celebrated author. A look inside the
beautiful No. 1 Royal Crescent, decorated just as it would have
been during the Georgian era, brings Jane Austen's Bath to life and
is complemented by insightful commentary.
Special guest Lucy Worsley will join you for a delightful
evening of conversation at the Leigh Park Country House Hotel &
Vineyard hotel in Bradford-Upon-Avon, where you'll also stay for
the two-night tour. Lucy will offer even more insight into the life
and times of Jane Austen during a fascinating talk and sign your
complimentary copy of her book, Jane Austen at Home**. During both
evenings at the hotel, you'll enjoy dinner with wine in the company
of other Jane Austen enthusiasts.
You'll visit Castle Combe, said to be the prettiest Cotswolds
village, followed by a guided walk around Lacock - a beautiful
village used as a location for the 1995 TV adaptation of Pride and
Prejudice and in the 1996 film version of Emma. On a memorable
morning in this beautiful corner of the Cotswolds, you'll stop for
tea and coffee at the grand, ivy-clad Manor House country
hotel.
