Delve into the life and times of the Brontë sisters on this richly immersive four-day tour, in the company of Lucy Worsley
Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales, join
expert historian Lucy Worsley on this wonderful literary tour -
offering rare insights, evocative landscapes and exclusive access
to the places that shaped the lives and work of Charlotte, Emily
and Anne Brontë.
You'll be based at the four-star Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate for
three nights, with breakfast included each morning. You can also
look forward to a welcome dinner, as well as a talk and Q&A
session from Lucy on your first evening, which sets the scene for
the itinerary ahead.
Step into Brontë country with a private visit to the Brontë
Parsonage Museum in Haworth, including behind-the-scenes access to
the library. Lucy will be accompanying you on this special visit,
in which you'll explore the sisters' former home, the church where
their father preached, and the atmospheric village they called
home.
Beautiful scenery abounds as you travel through the sweeping
Southern Dales to the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Bolton Abbey,
nestled beside the River Wharfe. You'll also visit the
picture-postcard village of Grassington - perhaps better known as
'Darrowby' in All Creatures Great and Small - and the area
around Lothersdale, where Charlotte worked as a governess.
Your tour will end with a visit to RHS Harlow Carr, the Royal
Horticultural Society's flagship garden in the North, which spans
over 60 acres, and spend free time exploring the charming town of
Harrogate with its independent shops and the iconic Bettys Tea
Room.
