Expert-led
See the Art Deco and Art Nouveau architecture of Brussels with Eric Knowles
An unmissable trip for lovers of early 20th-century art and architecture, this four-day adventure will show you the highlights of Art Deco and Art Nouveau Brussels.
Joining you for part of the trip will be art and antiques expert Eric Knowles. Eric will deliver an insightful talk and Q&A over a special gala dinner at the prestigious NH Brussels Grand Place Arenberg where you'll be based for four nights.
The Antiques Roadshow veteran is renowned for his expertise in the arts and this private dinner talk will give you illuminating insights into art and its significance in Brussels and Belgium, all while you enjoy a four-course gourmand menu and an open bar.
On your first full day, you'll explore the architectural gems of the Belgian capital on a guided walking tour. After the First World War, a surge in construction led to a rise in Art Deco buildings in the Belgian capital, complementing the city's existing Art Nouveau architecture.
You'll learn more about both movements with illuminating museum visits. There'll be a private visit to the Horta Museum with Eric, where you can learn about the life and works of Victor Horta - one of the founders of the Art Nouveau movement - and a private tour of the Van Buuren Museum, giving you a deeper understanding of Art Deco design.
Throughout your trip you'll enjoy delicious, traditional Belgian cuisine both at your gala dinner and with two visits to 'T Kelderke restaurant, a popular restaurant housed in a traditional 17th-century vaulted cellar.
