Day2Budapest with CorneliusBudapest, Hungary
Discover the beautiful city of Budapest, where you can explore or join a choice of tours. Later you will be joined by broadcaster and journalist, Cornelius Lysaght, who will give an exclusive talk and Q&A session. This evening you'll enjoy the captain's welcome reception, followed by dinner.
Day3The National Stud Farm, Topolcianky, SlovakiaTopolcianky, Slovakia
This morning you will visit Topolcianky, home of Slovakia's famous National Stud Farm, in the company of Brough. One of the most important breeding centres in Europe, Topolcianky is the national centre for the breeding and cultivation of horses in Slovakia, and keeps the breeding books of the Lipizzaner, Hucul and Arabian breeds. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Riding Hall, or visit the horses with an expert guide, before being transferred back to the ship.
Day4Vienna’s Spanish Riding SchoolVienna, Austria
Today, you will embark on an exclusive visit to the world-renowned Spanish Riding School in the Vienna Hofburg, the oldest establishment of its kind in the world.
Accompanied by Brough Scott, you will have a private guided tour of the Royal Lipizzaner stables. There will be a welcome aperitif in the reception rooms of the Spanish Riding School and an introduction to the history of the house. You'll proceed through to the famous Riding Hall and sit in VIP seats to watch the Lipizzaner horses take their morning exercise.
The rest of your day is free to explore the city of Vienna, before you enjoy a wonderful classical music concert in the evening.
Day5DürnsteinDürnstein , Austria
This morning, SS Maria Theresa will stop in the small town of Dürnstein, where you can explore the quaint shops and castle ruins. There are two optional excursions here: a tasting at Austria's oldest winery, or the opportunity to learn about saffron from the Wachau Valley's only saffron grower.
Later, you'll visit the 900-year-old Melk Abbey and its extraordinary Baroque-style library, before continuing your cruise through the Wachau Valley.
Day6You choose: Salzburg or Linz?Salzburg, Austria
Today you can take your pick from excursions to either Salzburg or Linz. Salzburg is Mozart's birthplace, known for its alpine setting. Linz is a pretty centre for the arts. You can go behind the scenes at the Linz opera house and enjoy a cider-tasting experience in an apple and pear orchard.
Day7Explore PassauPassau, Germany
Cobblestone streets and graceful arcades welcome you in the beautiful German city of Passau. Stroll through the old town's narrow alleys and gaze up at the impressive hilltop Oberhaus Fortress which overlooks the city, and visit St Stephen's Cathedral, a wonderful example of Baroque architecture which is also home to Europe's largest church organ with some 17,000 pipes.
This evening you'll enjoy a special Captain's farewell dinner.
Day8Return homeMunich , Germany
After breakfast, you will be transferred from the ship to Munich to begin your journey home.
