You'll arrive in Lyon by air, Eurostar or self-drive and be transferred to your ship.
Day2Mâcon and BeauneBeaune, France
You'll visit the Hospices de Beaune, home to one of the most popular wine auctions in the country. This afternoon Marcus Wareing will perform a special cookery demonstration on board, sharing anecdotes from his time on Masterchef as well as taking part in a Q&A. There will also be time for Marcus to sign your copy of his book, one of which subscribers will receive with every booking. You'll enjoy a captain's welcome reception and dinner this evening.
After breakfast, Marcus will join a tour of the former Roman capital's gastronomic highlights including the city's bouchons, which serve rustic meat dishes, and many specialty food shops. This evening Uniworld's executive chefs will prepare a dinner with wines paired by Jilly Goolden.
Day4TournonTournon-sur-Rhône , France
Sail down the Rhône into Tournon, which is nestled in a valley near the steep slopes of le Massif Central. You'll enjoy an exclusive cooking demonstration by Marcus Wareing in the morning and venture further into this bountiful wine region this afternoon. In Tain-l'Hermitage, you'll visit La Cave de Tain and Chez Michel Chapoutier. Enjoy a lecture on the Rhône valley and private wine tasting with Jilly Goolden.
A snapshot of quintessential France awaits you in Viviers. This afternoon join Jilly Goolden for a wine tasting at the iconic Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Today you'll discover the rich history of Avignon, from its Celtic origins to its prominence in the Middle Ages as home to the popes who fl ed from Rome. Choose a walk with a local guide to the famous Pont d'Avignon, or take a kayak ride under a 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct.
This colourful Provençal town appears in hundreds of paintings by Van Gogh, and features a Roman amphitheatre where spectators once gathered to watch chariot races. A special captain's farewell reception and dinner will be prepared for you this evening.
Day8Disembark in AvignonAvignon, France
After breakfast you'll disembark and transfer to take your chosen mode of transport back to the UK.
