World War II: the conflict which shaped the modern world. Visit iconic locations in the company of an expert historian on this tour.

Join historian, TV presenter, and journalist Guy Walters on this exclusive six-day tour, immersing you in World War II history.

You'll visit Stalag Luft III, a Luftwaffe-run prisoner-of-war camp, which became famous thanks to the 1963 film, The Great Escape. Tour the camp, taking in some of the routes taken by the prisoners to escape.

You'll also visit the iconic Colditz Castle, the Renaissance stronghold that was converted into a high security prison during the Second World War. The imposing castle sits high on a hill above the River Mulde and you'll learn about how challenging life was for the prisoners who were trapped behind barbed wire, as well as the heroics of those who managed to escape.

Throughout the tour, Guy will offer expert insights, bringing to life the situation the prisoners found themselves in. Guy will also deliver a talk on your first evening and you'll hear from Marek Lazarz, director of the Stalag Luft III museum.

There will also be time during the trip to visit the Museum of Military History in Dresden, as well as the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, north of Berlin, where a number of the Great Escapers were sent. This was the first concentration camp built in Prussia. Back in Berlin, you'll have the opportunity to see many iconic landmarks, including Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall and the Reichstag.

"I am REALLY looking forward to returning to Colditz and Stalag Luft III. It's hard to think of two more iconic locations associated with Second World War heroism and plucky inventiveness, and during the course of the tour I shall really be bringing the stories of the prisoners-of-war to life. As well as talking about the escapes and all the exciting bits, I think it's important that we remind ourselves just how tough life was for these poor men, who were trapped behind castle walls and barbed wire for many years. I cannot wait to see you there, and I promise we shall have a great time, not only immersing ourselves in the history, but also in fine food and drink - and great company!"
