Explore these enchanting islands off the coast of Cornwall, including St. Martin's, Tresco and Bryher, and meet former Children’s Laureate Michael Morpurgo, who has been visiting the Isles of Scilly for 40 years

This six-day trip is the perfect way to discover what many people consider the UK's most charming archipelago - the Isles of Scilly. Located off the south-western tip of Cornwall, these islands enjoy some of the warmest weather in the UK, and offer striking and contrasting scenery of sheltered bays and rugged cliffs.

On the beautiful island of Bryher Michael Morpurgo, who visits every year, will give a talk after lunch. Most famous for his 1982 novel War Horse, the Isles of Scilly have provided inspiration for many of his novels, including Why the Whales Came, The Sleeping Sword and Listen to the Moon.

You will also have the chance to explore the flora and fauna of the island, with a wildlife cruise and a visit to the world-renowned Tresco Abbey Garden, home to over 20,000 plants. The head of the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust will give a talk to explain the trust's work and give you an insight into the Isles' native wildlife, which includes porpoises, dolphins, seals, and many species of birds.

Your base for five nights will be the stylish and luxurious Karma Hotel on St Martin's. A stone's throw from the beach and with breathtaking views across the Tean Sound, the hotel provides a relaxing base for exploring these beautiful isles. Its two-AA Rosette award-winning Cloudesley Shovell restaurant serves some of the freshest seafood in the country, and has an extensive wine list.
