In 2020 the Alpine village of Oberammergau will perform its 42nd Passion Play. Nearly half the inhabitants take part in this epic performance which tells the moving story of the final chapter of Christ's life. It is an unforgettable experience that happens once every decade and we're offering you the chance to watch it in the company of The Telegraph's esteemed opera critic Rupert Christiansen.
Rupert will also be your expert guide in Salzburg where you'll visit the Mozart Residence, to see a display of Mozart's childhood instruments. Rupert will give you a unique insight into Salzburg's most famous son during a special Q&A and accompany you to a dinner and concert at the stunning St Peter's Abbey.
Before arriving in Oberammergau for the Passion Play, you will also spend time exploring the historic Bavarian capital of Munich, which will include visits to Nymphenburg Palace and Germany's largest palace, the Residenz. Nymphenburg was the main summer residence of the former rulers of Bavaria. While in the historic city, you will also enjoy a special dinner at the 16th-century Hofbrauhaus, an example of Bavarian culture which has been at the heart of Munich life for ages.
"This promises to be a fascinating trip, with something ancient and sacred next door to a city full of worldly grandeur and glitter. Salzburg is the city that nurtured Mozart's genius, and every paving stone has memories of him. It will be my privilege and pleasure to lead you through it."
